DP World has won the ‘Port Company of the Year’ award for the second year in a row following last night’s 2024 Multimodal honours in Birmingham.

MM24 Port Winner

The award was presented to DP World following another milestone year for the logistics business. The highlights for DP World in 2024 include the completion of the soon-to-be-opened £350m new fourth berth at London Gateway, the pioneering Modal Shift Programme trial at Southampton, which has so far saved customers and supply chain partners 6,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide, and both of its logistics hubs going fossil-diesel free following an operational switch to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO).

Ernst Schulze, UK Chief Executive of DP World, said: “DP World is strongly committed to being the most efficient and sustainable logistics company in the UK, and winning ‘Port Company of the Year’ for the second year in a row is testament to the hard work our teams at London Gateway and Southampton have done to make that happen.

“With customers facing pressure to manage costs, maintain reliability and improve speed in this uncertain market, projects such as our pioneering Modal Shift Programme trial at Southampton and the opening of the new fourth berth at London Gateway later this year, which will be the world’s first all-electric berth at a port anywhere in the world, couldn’t be better timed.”

In addition to its hubs at Southampton and London Gateway, DP World’s offer includes logistics, freight forwarding and European transport capabilities, all of which are being integrated into a global network handling 10% of world trade.
